On December 30th, 2019, the MTA Released their Draft Proposal for the Queens Bus Redesign. In this Blog, I will give My Reaction to the Express Bus Redeign of Queens County (Queens). OVERALL, I Like It BUT, there are some adjustments that can be made. Currently, there are 4 Express Routes that operate between Downtown New York County (Manhattan) & Queens. I Like the Fact that the Draft Proposal is Increasing that to 8 Routes. ALL of the Proposed 8 Routes will operate during the Morning & Evening Peak Hours (AM & PM Rush) ONLY. ALL the Proposed Downtown Express Routes would travel via Williamsburg Bridge. ALL Buses in the Morning would go TO Downtown New York County (Manhattan) & ALL Buses in the Evening would go TO Queens County.

The QM100 would travel to/from Middle Village via Grand Avenue, Metroploitian Avenue & Eliot Avenue. I Like the Route. The Proposal is Every 30 Minutes in the Morning between 6-8, I would Add 1 More @ 8:30. The Proposal is Every 30 Minutes in the Evening from 4:30-7. The Proposed QM101 would travel to/from Glendale via Grand Avenue, Metropolitan Avenue, Fresh Pond Road & Myrtle Avenue. I Like the Route. The Proposal is for Every 30 Minutes in the Morning from 6-8. The Proposal is every 60 Minutes in the Evening from 4-6. I would change that to every 30 Minutes from 4:30-7. The 1 thing I would add is that the QM100 & QM101 Should be operated out of the LGA Depot.  The Proposed QM102 would operate to/from Briarwood via BQE (Brooklyn-Queens Expressway), the LIE (Long Island Expressway) & Queens Blvd. The Proposal in the Morning is 6:30, 7, 7:15, 7:30, 8, 8:30 & 9AM. In the Afternoon, the Proposal is 4, 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30 & 7. I would add a Bus in the Evening @ 6:45. I would add that the QM102 Should be operated out of Baisley Park Depot.

The QM103 would operate to/from Bay Terrace. The QM103 would operate on the BQE, LIE, Whitestone Expressway, Cross Island Parkway Service Road, Utopia Parkway & 26th Avenue. The Proposal in the Morning is 6:15, 6:45 & 7:15 & in the Afternoon is 4:30, 5 & 5:30. I LIKE the Fact that would be Service to/from Downtown in the Bay Terrace area. This Route Should operate out of the College Point Depot. The QM104 would operate to/from Glen Oaks. The Route would operate on the BQE & LIE to Fresh Meadows, 188th Street, 73rd Avenue, Springfield Blvd, LIE Service Road, Little Neck Parkway & 260th Street. The Proposal is every 30 Minutes between 5:30-7:30 in the Morning & Every 30 Minutes in the Afternoon from 4:30-6. I would add 1 more Bus @ 6:30. The QM104 would replace the Current QM8. This Route Should operate out of the College Point Depot or Queens Village Depot.

The QM105 would operate to/from Fresh Meadows & would operate on the BQE, LIE, Queens Blvd, Union Turnpike & 188th Street. The Proposal in the Morning would be 5:30, 6, 6:20 & then every 10 Minutes until 8, 8:15 & 8:30. The Proposal in the Afternoon would be 4, 5, 5:10, 5:20, 5:30, 5:45, 6 & then every 30 Minutes to 7:30. I would make it 4, 4:30, Every 10 Minutes between 5-6:30 & then every 30 Minutes to 8PM. This Route Should operate out of the College Point Depot. The QM106 would operate to/from Belmont Park. The Route would operate along the BQE, LIE, CLearview Expressway, Hillside Avenue, Springfield Blvd & Hempstead Avenue. The Proposal is 6:30 & 7 in the Morning as well as 4:30 & 5 in the Evening. I AM IMPRESSED they are making a NEW Route to serve the Queens Village area & I Hope as time goes along, Service can be INCREASED on this Proposed NEW Route. This Route should operate out of the Queens Village Depot. The QM107 would operate to/from Rochdale Village. The Route would operate along the BQE, LIE, Queens Blvd, Van Wyck Expressway Service Road, Linden Blvd, Merrick Blvd, Baisley Blvd & Bedell Street to the NEW Terminal @ Farmers Blvd by the Locust Manor LIRR Station. The Proposal is 6:15, 6:45 & 7:15 in the Morning & 4:30, 5 & 5:30 in the Evening. I Like the Route & Hope Service can eventually be Increased. This Route Should operate out of the Bislaey Park Depot.

I am VERY IMPRESED that the MTA is Proposing 4 NEW Routes to/from Hudson Yards on the West Side. ALL 4 Routes operate via LIE & Queens-Midtown Tunnel to 34th Street. ALL 4 of these NEW Proposed Routes to/from Hudson Yards would operate during AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. I COMPLETELY Like this Idea & Hope it is Successful enough to increase to ALL DAY & MAYBE EVERY DAY. The QM112 would operate to/from Forest Hills. The Route would operate along LIE Service Road EAST of Queens Blvd & Yellowstone Blvd. The Proposal is every 30 Minutes from 6:30-9 in the Morning & 4, 5, 5:30 & 6 in the Evening. I would make it every 30 Minutes from 4:30-7 in the Afternoon. This Route Should operate out of either LGA or College Point Depot. The QM115 would operate to/from Fresh Meadows via LIE, Queens Blvd, Union Turnpike & 188th Street. The Proposal is Every 30 Minutes from 5:45-8:45 in the Morning & every 30 Minutes from 4-6:30 in the Evening. I would add 1 More Bus @ 7PM. This Route Should operate out of the College Point Depot. The QM116 would operate to/from Elmont via LIE, Queens Blvd, Van Wyck Expressway Service Road, Linden Blvd & Elmont Road to Dutch Broadway. The Proposal is Every 30 Minutes from 6-8 in the Morning & Every 30 Minutes 4-6:30 in the Evening. This Route Should operate out of the Queens Village Depot. The QM117 would operate to/from Floral Park vis LIE, Queens Blvd & Hillside Avenue. The Proposal is 6, 6:30, 7 & 7:30 in the Morning & Every 60 Minutes from 4-6 in the Evening. I would add a Bus @ 7PM. This Route Should operate out of the Queens Village Depot.

There are 6 Proposed Routes to/from Midtown via 3rd Avenue. ALL 6 Bueses take LIE to Queens-Midtown Tunnel to 34th Street to 3rd Avenue. ALL Buses travel along 3rd Avenue to the Ed Koch-Queensboro Bridge to go back to Queens. ALL the 3rd Avenue Buses travel along the LIE in Queens County. ALL the 3rd Avenue Buses would operate AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. The QM130 would operate to/from Maspeth via Woodhaven Blvd & Eliot Avenue. The Proposal is every 30 MInutes from 6:30-9 in the Morning & every 30 Minutes between 4-6:30 in the Evening, I would add a Bus @ 7PM I LIKE & SUPPORT this Route. The QM131 would opertae to/from Glendale via 69th Street, Eliot Avenue, Fresh Pond Road & Myrtle Avenue. The Proposal is every 30 Minutes from 6-8:30 in the Morning & every 30 Minutes from 4-7 in the Evening. I LIKE & SUPPORT this Route. The QM130 & QM131 Should operate out tof the LGA Depot. The QM133 would operate to/from Froest Hills via LIE Service Road East of Queens Blvd & Yellowstone Blvd. The Proposal is 6:30, Every 15 Minutes from 7-8:15, 8:30 & 9 in the Morning; Every 30 Minutes from 4-7 in the Evening. I would make it every 15 Minutes from 4-6:30 & then Every 30 Minutes to 8. The QM132 Should operate out of either the LGA or College Point Depot. The QM133 would operate to/from Bay Terrace via LIE, Whitestone Expressway, Cross Island Parkway Service Road, Willets Point Blvd, 212t Street, 16th Avenue, 211the Street & 23rd Avenue. The Proposal is 6:30, 6:45 & Every 30 Minutes btween 7-8:30 in the Morning, I would Add a Bus @ 7:45 in the Morning & Every 30 Minutes from 4-7 in the Evening. This Route Should operate out of the College Pont Depot. The QM134 would operate to/from Glen Oaks via LIE to Fresh Meadows, 188th Street, 73rd Avenue, Springfield Blvd, LIE Service Road, LIttle Neck Parkway & 260th Street. The Proposal is Every 30 Minutes fro. 6-8 in the Morning & Every 30 Minutes from 4-7 in the Evening. This Route Should Operate out of the College Point Or Queens Village Depot. The QM135 would operate to/from Fresh Meadows via LIE, Queens Blvd, UNion Turnpike & 188th Street. The Proposal is Every 30 Minutes between 6-8:30 in the Morning & 4-7 in the Evening. I would Add a Bus 2 7:30 in the Evening, This Route would operate out of the College Point Depot.

The MTA is Proposing 3 Express Routes  that would go along Madison Avenue. ALL 3 Routes would Operate AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. The QM155 would operate between Madison Avenue in New York County (Manhattan) & Spring Creek In Kings County (Brooklyn) via Queens County (Queens). The Proposal is Every 30 Minutes between 5:30-8:30 in the Morning & Every 30 Minutes between 4:30-7:30 in the Evening. This Route would operate out of the Spring Creek Depot. The QM156 would operate to/from Rosedale. The Proposal is 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30, 6:45, 7, 7:15, 7:30 & 8 in the Morning. The Proposal is 4, 4:30, 5, 5:15, 5:30, 6, 6:30 & 7 in the Evening. This Route Should Operate out of the Queens Village Depot. The QM157 would operate to/from Floral Park. The Proposal is 6, 6:30, 6:45, 7, 7:30 & 8 in the Morning; I would add a Bus @ 7:15 & Every 30 Minutes between 4-7 in the Evening. This Route Should operate out of the Queens Village Depot & I SUPPORT ALL these Routes.

There are 11 Proposed Express Routes to/from 6th Avenue. The QM160 Operates to/from Maspeth-Middle Village. The Proposal is AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY.  I would Support Making this Route ALL Day & if Successful, MAYBE Even Add Weekend Service. This Route Should Operate out of the LGA Depot. The QM161 would operate to/from Glendale. This Route would Operate AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. I would Support Making this Route ALL Day & if Successful, Add Weekend Service. This Route Should Operate out of the LGA Depot. The QM162 would operate to/from Electchester, which is the Western Area of Fresh Meadows, & would operate AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. This Route would replace the Current QM4. I Would Support Making this Route ALL DAY & ADD Weekend Service. This Route Should Operate out of the College Point Depot. The QM163 would operate to/from Beechhurst. This Route would operate AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. I Would Support Making this Route ALL DAY & if Successful, Add Weekend Service. This Route Should Operate out of the College Point Depot. The QM164 would operate to/from Bay Terrace. The Proposal is to Operate TO 6th Avenue Monday-Saturday from 5:40AM-3PM & to Operate TO Bay Terrace Monday-Saturday from 1PM-9:30PM. The MTA Should Consider adding Sunday Service, as well as adding Evening Service TO 6th Avenue & Late Night Service TO Bay Terrace. This Route Should Operate out of the College Point Depot.

The QM165 would travel to/from Glen Oaks & Replace the Current QM5. The Proposal is to Change it to AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. I Believe it Should be ALL DAY, as well as adding Evening Trips TO 6th Avenue & Late Night Trips TO Glen Oaks. I ALSO Believe You should have Weekend Service ALL DAY, Evening & Late Night. This Route Should operate out of the College Point or Queens Village Depot. The QM166 would operate to/from Fresh Meadows. The Good News is that the Proposal is to Operate TO 6th Avenue from 5AM-2PM from Monday to Saturday & to Operate TO Fresh Meadows from 1PM-10:30PM frrom Monday-Saturday. I Would consider adding Early Eving Trips TO 6th Avenue & Late Night Trips TO Fresh Meadows. This Route Should Operate out of the College Point Depot. The QM167 would operate to/from North Shore Towers & would operate AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. The Current QM6 Operatess ALL Day Everyday. I Have a Compromise, When You have the Highest Ridership to/from North Shore Towers, The QM167 would go to/from North Shore Towers & when Ridership is Low, The QM167 would travel to/from Lake Success/LIJ Hospital & would remain ALL DAY. This Route Should operate out of College Point or Queens Village Depot. The QM168 would operate to/from Howard Beach. The Proposal is to operate TO 6th Avenue between 5:10AM-2PM on Mondays-Saturdays & to Operate 1PM-9:30PM on Mondays-Saturdays. I would ADD a Few More Trips TO 6th Avenue & ADD MORE Trips to extend to LATE Night TO Howard Beach. This Route Should Operate out of Far Rockaway Depot. The QM169 would operate to/from the Western End of the Rockaways. The Proposal is AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. I Would Support making it ALL DAY & if Successful, Adding Weekend Service. This Route Should Operate out of the Far Rockaway Depot. The QM170 would operate to/from Far Rockaway, on the Eastern Side of the Rockaway Pennisula. The Proposal is for AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) ONLY. I Would Support making it ALL DAY & If Successful, Adding Weekend Service. This Route Should operate out of the Far Rockaway Depot.

One Last Note, For those Routes where I would Support Weekend Service, That ALSO INCLUDES Sundays. I Agree MOST EXPRESS Bus Service Would & SHOULD Be AM & PM Peak (Rush Hour) Service. However, There are Some Roues that You can Justify ALL DAY & Weekend Service. There are Routes that You can Justify Adding More Service TO New York County (Manhattan) into the Evening & More Service TO Queens Until the LATE Night. I Hope the MTA is Listenning.
