The MTA Regional Bus Operations bus fleet comprises over 5,700 buses in fixed-route service in New York City under MTA New York City Bus (New York City Transit) (including Select Bus Service) and MTA Bus. Many buses built today were given to NYCT and MTA bus from Nova Bus (Low floor Standard buses) and New Flyer, while older fleets were from Orion Industries and Nova Bus (Rapid Transit Series buses).
A roster of mtamaster's fantasy fleet is shown below. Not included below are buses and vans not open to the general public (Access-A-Ride vans and taxicabs, and employee shuttle buses), or demonstration buses.
The NYC Transit Department of Buses, subsidiary Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority, and the Metropolitan Suburban Transportation Authority, now under MTA Regional Bus Operations, have provided bus service in Greater New York since the 1950s, utilizing mostly buses from General Motors and Flxible through the 1980s, and later on the Rapid Transit Series design, and buses from Gillig, New Flyer, and Orion. 5364-5411 were originally delivered in the blue and white scheme before being redecaled into the blue and gold scheme.
5368 received the "full" scheme found on 5412-5438.
Units that were delivered with the old bus scheme were retrofitted with USB charging ports and free Wi-Fi while the units delivered in the new scheme came with said features.
Many 6000 units are in Select Bus Service duty.
These are the first buses to promote the next generation of buses announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
