NICE BUS SHUTTLES

In 2011, NICE (Nassau Inter County Express) took over from MTA Long Island Bus. Philosophically, I USUALLY SUPPORT Private over Public. Unfortunately, I think NICE BUS has made TOO MANY Mistakes & I think MTA Long Island Bus should take over Nassau & Suffolk County Transit.

NICE Bus Operates 3 Shuttle Routes, 2 of them used to be Bus Routes, & 1 New Shuttle Route. I would like to address these 3 Routes in this Blog.

The First Shuttle is the Mercy Medical Shuttle. This Shuttle USED to be the N17 Route. The N17 operated between the Hempstead Transit Center, which is located across the Street from the Hempstead LIRR Station, & the Rockville Centre LIRR Station. The N17 served Hempstead, Mercy Hospital & Rockville Centre. Currently, this Shuttle…

QUEENS BUS REDESIGN: THE GREEN ROUTES

In the last 3 Blogs, I gave my thoughts & feelings about the Queens Bus Redesign. The Proposed Blue Routes are your Slect Bus Service Routes, The Proposed Purple Routes are your Limited/Get to the Subway as fast as Possible Routes & the Proposed Red Routes are the Better Connection Routes. This Blog, We will Discuss the Proposed Green Routes, which are your Proposed Better Serve the Underserved Routes.

The Current Q22 operates 24/7 between Roxbury & the Far Rockway A Train Subway & Far Rokaway LIRR Station. The Proposed Q22 would operate 17 Hours a Day between Rockaway Park Subway Station & Cedarhurst in Nassau County. I DO Support extending the Q22 from the Far Rockaway A Train Station & LIRR Station to Cedarhurst BUT would extend it to 5 …

MY REACTION TO THE QUEENS BUS REDESIGN: THE RED ROUTES

This Blog will deal with the Proposed Red Routes of the Queens Bus Redesign. The Purpose of the Red Routes is Moving rapidly across the County. In the last 2 blogs, I discussed the Proposed Blue & Purple Routes. As I read this Proposal, the Blue Routes are your Select Bus Service Routes & your Purple Routes are your Limited Routes. The Red & Green Routes would be your Local Routes.

The Proposed Q10 would connect LGA Marine Air Terminal with Queens Center Mall via 81st & 82nd Streets, Hampton Street, 90th & 92nd Streets. Going to Queens Center Mall, the Proposed Q10 would travel along 59th Avenue to Junction Blvd to 62nd Drive to Queens Blvd. Going to LGA Airport Air Marine Terminal, the Propsed Q10 would travel along Queens Blvd to 90th Stre…

MY REACTION TO THE QUEENS BUS REDESIGN: BLUE & PURPLE ROUTES--PART 2

In the Last Blog, I reacted to the Proposed Blue Routes of the Queens Bus Redesign, IN this Blog, I will react to the Proposed Purple Routes of the Queens Bus Redesign. The Proposed Purple Routes Purpose is Get to the Subway as fast as Possible. All of the Proposed Purple Routes would have Local & Non Stop Sections of the Route.

The Propsed New Q30 would travel between Downtown Flushing & Fresh Meadows. The Route would go along Kissena Blvd, Sanford Avenue & Parsons Blvd to 46th Avenue. It would then take 46th Avenue to Utopia Parkway. Between Flushing & Utopia Parkway would be the NON-Stop Section of the Route. It would then take Utopia Parkway to the LIE Service Road, LIE Service Road to 188th Street & then 188th Street to the New Termina…

MY REACTION TO THE QUEENS BUS REDESIGN: BLUE & PURPLE ROUTES

On December 30th, 2019, the MTA released the Draft Proposal for the Queens Bus Redesign. In the Last Blog, I reacted to the Redesign of the Express Bus Routes in Queens County. In this Blog & the Next 3 Blogs, I will react to the Local, Limited & Select Bus Service Routes of the Draft Proposal of the Queens Bus Resdesign. The MTA Broke it down to 4 Colors: Blue, Purple, Red & Green. In this Blog, I will react to the Proposd Blue Routes. In addition, they Changed ALL of the Route Numbers.

Based on How I read this Map, The Blue Routes are your Select Bus Service Routes. To Quote from the Redesign Plan from the MTA Website, This is How they describe the Blue Routes.

Service Type: Connecting High Demand Areas (BLUE).

MY REACTION TO THE DRAFT PROPOSAL FOR THE EXPRESS BUS ROUTES IN THE QUEENS BUS REDESIGN

On December 30th, 2019, the MTA Released their Draft Proposal for the Queens Bus Redesign. In this Blog, I will give My Reaction to the Express Bus Redeign of Queens County (Queens). OVERALL, I Like It BUT, there are some adjustments that can be made. Currently, there are 4 Express Routes that operate between Downtown New York County (Manhattan) & Queens. I Like the Fact that the Draft Proposal is Increasing that to 8 Routes. ALL of the Proposed 8 Routes will operate during the Morning & Evening Peak Hours (AM & PM Rush) ONLY. ALL the Proposed Downtown Express Routes would travel via Williamsburg Bridge. ALL Buses in the Morning would go TO Downtown New York County (Manhattan) & ALL Buses in the Evening would go TO Queens County.

The QM100 …

CASEY STENGEL ROUTES

In this Blog, We will discuss the Routes that operate out of the Casey Stengel Depot, formerly known as Flushing Depot. Casey Stengel Depot is located right next door to the Corona Yard of the # 7 Train in the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park neighborhood of Queens County (Queens). The Casey Stengel Depot is Named after Casey Stengel, who was the former Manager of the New York Yankees & New York Mets. The Depot is also located across the Street from the New York Mets Stadium.

Currently, the Q12 operates between Downtown Flushing & Little Neck via Sanford Avenue & Northern Blvd. I am Happy the Q12 is now an Articulated Route. I propose 2 Adjustments to the Q12 Route. In Downtown Flushing, The Q12 would take Sanford Avenue to College Point Blvd, …

Currently the QM24, QM25 & QM34 are the Express Bus Routes that operate out of LGA Depot. The QM25 operates between Downtown New York County (Manhattan) & Glendale in Queens County (Queens) & I would NOT Change anything about that. The QM34 operates between Midtown New York County (Manhattan) via 3rd Avenue & Glendale in Queens County (Queens) & I would NOT change anything about that. Currently, the QM21 operates between Madison Square Park in the Midtown area of New York County (Manhattan) & Rochdale Village in Queens County (Queens). I DO AGREE with the Queens Bus Redesign Draft Proposal to Change the QM21 from Madison Square Park to the Financial DIstrict in the Downtown area of New York County (Manhattan). JFK DEPOT ROUTES

In the last Blog, we dealt with Far Rocaway Depot Routes, which were previously Green Bus Lines before it became MTA Bus. In this Blog we will deal with JFK Depot routes, which also used to be Green Bus Lines before it became MTA Bus. JFK Depot is located across the Street from the North end of JFK Airport. Just like I said for Far Rockaway Depot, JFK Depot needs to be raised & needs to have rooftop parking for the Buses. I say that because if you thought Superstorm Sandy was bad, which it was, if a Category 3 Hurricane takes a Direct Hit @ NYC, JFK Airport will be under water.

Currently the Q3 goes between the 165th Street Terminal in Jamaica & JFK Airport via Farmers Blvd. I offer 3 Proposals to the Q3 Route. Currently the Q3 operates out…

FAR ROCKAWAY DEPOT ROUTES

Now that we have dealt with Richmond (Staten Island), New York (Manhattan), Bronx (The Bronx), & Kings (Brooklyn) Counties, We Now get to the County that I was Born & Rasied in & Still live in Today, Queens County (Queens). Queens County (Queens) has 8 Bus Depots & of course we will deal with each of them 1 @ a time. This Blog, We will deal with Far Rockaway Depot. Far Rockaway Depot was 1 of the 2 Depots that used to belong to the Former Green Bus Lines before the MTA took over control. The Far Rockaway Depot is located in the Edgemere area of the Rockaway Neighborhood of Queens County (Queens).

SPRING CREEK DEPOT ROUTES

This Blog is about the Spring Creek Depot Routes. Spring Creek Depot is part of the Queens Division even though it is located in the Spring Creek Neighborhood of Kings County (Brooklyn) & has ALL Brooklyn Routes. The FIRST Thing is to put Spring Creek Depot BACK into the Brooklyn Division.

In the Grand Avenue Depot Routes, I didn't mention the B13 Route, which operates between Wycoff Hospital in Ridgewood to the Gateway Mall in Spring Creek. I offer 2 changes. When the Mall is Closed, ALL Buses would Terminate @ the Postal Facility & I would make the B13 a Spring Creek Route.

The B2 Operates between Kings Plaza Mall & the Kings Highway Stop of the B & Q Train. I Make NO Changes to the Route & if it is not already, make it 24/7. I Just Offer 1 Modification. When Kings Plaza Mall is Closed, the B2 would Terminate @ Avenue S & Flatbush Avenue. The B24 Route operates between the Williamsburg Bridge Bus Terminal & Greenpoint in Kings County BUT does serve the Western area of Maspeth in addition to the Sunnyside Neighborhood in the Western area of Queens County (Queens). The Most Notable thing about Jackie Gleason Depot is that it is the ONLY Depot in New York City that Houses 100% CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) Fuel Buses.

NYCT QUEENS BLVD LINE

Now we wil talk about the Queens Blvd Line, which s Currently the E, F, M & R Lines. We Will also include the Crosstown Line, which is the G Train. We will start with the Crosstown line & then discuss the Queens Blvd Line followed by MY Proposals.

The last time I addressed the G Train was when we discussed the Fulton Line (A & C Trains) & the Culver Line (F Train). Just as a Review, The G Train USED to end @ Smith-9th Streets. In 2013, It was extended to Church Avenue, Which I believe was a Good First Step. As I Stated in My Blog about the Culver Line, I believe the G Should be EXTENDED to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue & would be a 24/7 LOCAL supplement for the F Train. Since there are ONLY 3 Tracks between Church Avenue & Avenue X, the F T…
